2016 Courtesy Boat Inspection Update

Post date: Oct 28, 2016 12:23:35 PM

We had 411 boat inspections last year and 555 this year so a large increase in the amount of traffic at our boat ramp. Most of the increase came in the form of paddleboards, kayaks, and conoes so were non motorized. We ended our boat ramp coverage on Monday, Sept. 5 after covering Saturdays/Sundays/holidays from 6 :30 a.m. to 6:30 P.m and Fridays from 3 to 7:00 from Memorial weekend through Labor day weekend. We hired 7 Sacopee Valley High School students this year 5 of whom were new to the program. One returning CBI helped us by correcting the CBI sheets and helped count our boat total for the year. He also drove the CBI forms to our treasurer's house for us. We had a couple of incidents at our boat ramp this year which required supervisor involvement. A man in his 20's had a medical incident and died close by the ramp and our CBI had to run to get help for him. A resident did CPR until the ambulance came. One of our boys was approached by a woman who wanted him to get in the car and have sex with her. The local law enforcement was involved with that. It was an eventful year in that respect. We are hoping most of our CBI's return next year so it will be an easier year next year.
